Dune Casino Collector Chip Set
Themed after the story of Arabian Nights, the Dunes, a “Miracle in the Desert,” opened in May of 1955. Built as the tenth resort on Las Vegas Boulevard, the property housed 200 rooms across its two-story building, a 35-ft tall sultan statue, a signature V-shaped pool, a 150-ft lagoon and a Broadway-sized theater. After significant losses in the first year, the resort was sold and purchased in 1956 by alleged Chicago Outfit Mob-affiliates Major A. Riddle and Jake Gottlieb. Throughout the Dune’s life on The Strip, the theater hosted popular performers including Jayne Mansfield and Frank Sinatra, in addition to many professional boxing matches.
After a rocky legacy to stay afloat and several declined offers, the Dunes was eventually sold in 1992 to Mirage Resorts and imploded in 1993 to make way for the Bellagio Hotel and Casino, which still stands on the land today. Carry a piece of Las Vegas history in your pocket for luck with this set of original casino chips from the Dunes.
- Vintage $5 (1980), $25 (1989) and $100 (1989) Dunes casino chips
- Casino used condition
