Flamingo Hilton Casino Bugsy Siegel $5 Chip 1997
This collector’s casino chip bears the images of mobster Benjamin "Bugsy" Siegel and of the Flamingo Hilton. When Siegel opened the Flamingo in 1946, the $6 million casino resort set a new standard of quality for Las Vegas. Its sleek, modern decor and luxury amenities rose in stark contrast to the Old West style Las Vegas had embraced previously. The property switched hands a few times until it was purchased by the Hilton Corporation, which renamed it the Flamingo Hilton in 1974. The last of the original Flamingo was torn down in 1993. Take home this charming memento of the casino that changed the face of Las Vegas and the mobster behind its founding.
